Our first city destination on our Meet Your Neighbors Friday on August 3rd, 2012, was Marshfield. We stopped at the Ronald McDonald House and received a tour of the facilities. It was very neat to see all of the wonderful facilities and support that the Ronald McDonald House Charity gives to families. Next, we stopped at a restaurant/bar named Crabby Dave's. When we went inside of the restaurant, we were greeted with none other than Crabby Dave himself! We were happy to find out that Dave isn't crabby at all- he was actually very smiley!! We were a bit hungry so we ordered two local favorites from the menu. The Grilled Turkey Jack sandwich (with "crabby sauce" and all!) and The Cheese Curd Burger. We were huge fans of The Cheese Curd Burger which was a burger topped with deep-fried Nasonville Cheese Curds and finished with caramelized onions. After Crabby Dave's, we made our way to Weber's Farm Store. As we were walking into the store we heard "mooing" and Alex said, "Are we going to get attacked?" The look of fear was evident on his face. Once inside, I got a lesson in how to make a soft-serve ice cream cone. I took the pleasure of making Alex's cone, and after a job well done, (I thought..) Jo Ellen, the owner, took it back and "fixed" it….it still tasted the same, even if it wasn't the prettiest ice cream cone in the world. After Weber's Farm Store we stopped at Nasonville Dairy and got a tour from Ken. Both of us learned so many new things about cheese-making. Lucky for us, we left the cheese factory with lots of different varieties of cheese to sample. We are still talking about the Buffalo Wing Jack Cheese and the oh-so squeaky cheese curds!
