A water rescue mission was launched yesterday afternoon in Dunn County after a report of a tipped canoe in the Red Cedar River.
The Dunn County Sheriff's Office said the canoe carrying 4 people tipped over about 2 miles south of Downsville, and a struggle ensued with the high water levels and hasty currents. A rescue team launched a boat at the County Highway Y Dunnville landing in Dunn Township and managed to rescue everyone without injuries. The Sheriff's Office is urging all people considering canoeing or tubing on area rivers to use extreme caution until the water levels have subsided and currents are not as treacherous. As always if you still plan on enjoying water activities wear your life jacket.
