BIRDS FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE AN AUTOMATIC DOOR - Photographer Grant Hughes recorded a video of swallows operating an automatic door in a bike parking garage at the University of Victoria in Canada. According to Hughes, the swallows were already nesting in the garage when the door was added to the entrance. The birds are able to activate the motion sensors for the door from both the inside and outside, which allows them to pass in and out of the garage with ease. Video

YOUNG PILOT WILL TRY TO BREAK WORLD RECORD - A 19-year-old's attempt to fly into the record books will start today (Wednesday) in San Diego. Matt Guthmiller will take off from Gillespie Field and try to become the youngest person to fly solo around the world. He estimates it will take him about 40 days with 20 stops on 5 continents. The current record is held by a 21-year-old. Guthmiller will post updates on his Facebook page.

COUNCIL APPROVES LIQUOR LICENSE FOR GUN RANGE - The Oklahoma City city council has approved a liquor license for a new gun range. The 40,000-square-foot business includes 24 firearm lanes, 10 archery lanes and a cafe where food and alcohol will be served. But there will be precautions. Co-owner Jeff Swanson says customers' driver's licenses will be flagged once they order a drink, preventing them from drinking alcohol before entering the shooting facilities.

CLOONEY AND ALAMUDDIN GETTING MARRIED AT DOWNTON ABBEY - Professional bachelor George Clooney and fiancé Amal Alamuddin are reportedly getting married in Highclere Castle near London - aka THE Downton Abbey. It's the same castle as depicted on the popular television series. George allegedly cashed in a favor with the Earl of Grantham himself, Hugh Bonneville, who co-starred in his movie Monuments Men.

According to a new survey, 17% of people say they'd pull their own tooth if they couldn't afford a trip to the dentist, and it was painful or infected . . . and 4% would let a FRIEND pull their tooth.

An Iranian judge has ordered Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to appear in court to answer complaints that Facebook-owned apps Instagram and Whatsapp violate people's privacy. The judge also ordered the apps to be blocked. Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are banned in Iran.

The Boca Raton, Florida police recently arrested Traverse Verite for attempting to steal an unmarked police car. The 23 year-old got off a train and walked over to the running car. He couldn't see inside because the windows were tinted. Verite opened the passenger door and was stunned when an officer had a gun on him. He thought the car belonged to his friend, but couldn't remember his friend's name or his correct phone number. Verite told officers he wanted to sit in the car and read his Bible. He was charged with burglary.

Professional competitive eater Molly Schuyler downed a 72-ounce steak in 4 minutes and 48 seconds on Monday. She was competing in the Big Texan Steak Challenge. Moly downed a second 72-ounce steak in under 10 minutes. She ate 9 pounds of food in less than 15 minutes.

A man tried to rob a Wichita Laundromat three times on Sunday. The first time, the man walked into the store and handed an employee a note that read: "This is a robbery." The employee said he had a gun, and the man left. The thief then returned and said he too had a gun, but then left after an argument. The man returned a third time and poured himself a cup of coffee before taking the robbery note and leaving.

Bartow County, Georgia sheriff's recently arrested Celestino Moras for opening fire at a church picnic and rodeo. He was drunk when other guests asked him to leave. Moras got mad, pulled out a pistol and started shooting. One of the rodeo cowboys lassoed him as soon as he ran out of bullets. Other guests then beat Moras and tied him up until deputies could arrive.
