  • BRITISH CAN PAY $15 TO MESSAGE CELEBS ON FACEBOOK _ Facebook users in the UK can now pay to message their favorite celebrities' Facebook inboxes. Since December, Facebook has charged many users in the U.S. a buck to message strangers' inboxes directly. It was expanded to the UK this week, with some celebs signing on.
  • TEACHER KNOWS IF YOU'VE DONE THE E-READING _ Nine colleges are testing technology that lets professors know whether students are reading their textbooks. CourseSmart allows them to track their students' progress with digital textbooks.
  • MAN USED STOLEN EXCAVATOR TO TAKE ATM _ Police in North Carolina said a guy stole an excavator from a construction site and used it to steal an ATM from a bank kiosk. The suspect used the excavator's claw to knock over the ATM kiosk at the credit union and then used the machine to lift the 2-ton ATM into a waiting vehicle. The man hasn't been caught.
  • NBC EYES ALEC BALDWIN FOR LATE-NIGHT TALK SHOW _ NBC is reportedly in talks with Alec Baldwin to join the late-night lineup, likely a 30 minute program.
  • PARENTHOOD MEANS KISSING A CLEAN CAR GOODBYE _ Blogger Linda Sharps says when you have kids, it means kissing your clean car goodbye -- forever.... Start it on Facebook then take it to the phones: What's the biggest car mess disaster you've ever had?
