  • IT'S NOT A HERNIA...IT'S A BABY _ In Jackson, Michigan, Linda Ackley went to the hospital Friday morning thinking she had a hernia. By Friday night, she had given birth to a 10-pound baby. It's an amazing story when you hear about the couple. Linda and Mike are high school sweethearts that have been married 24 years and thought they were unable to have kids. Not only that, Linda contracted a bacterial infection that put her in a week-long coma 2 years ago. Doctors thought she wouldn't pull through.
  • FLORIDIAN ATTACKED A CAR WITH A MACHETE _ Christopher Mordecai walked outside of his Palm Bay, Florida, home to find a strange car in the driveway. Then he saw his wife and another dude inside, went back in to grab a machete, and turned the guy's windows into a shower of glass shards.
  • WATCH THIS _ A baby. A dad. Fart noises. Enough said.
  • NUMBER FOR THE DAY _ 9.2: Days of vacation unused by the average person (American) in 2012.
  • MATT DAMON ANNOUNCES HE'S GOING ON TOILET STRIKE _ Matt Damon held a fake press conference Tuesday to announce he would be going on a toilet strike in support of water.org, a non-profit organization he co-founded that provides aid for developing regions that don't have access to safe drinking water and sanitation.... Damon announces in the tongue-in-cheek video press conference: "In protest of this global tragedy and until this issue is resolved, until everybody has access to clean water and sanitation, I will not go to the bathroom."
  • NAME A ROACH FOR YOUR VALENTINE _ Can't decide on what to get your valentine? The Bronx Zoo has 58,000 Madagascar hissing roaches -- most with no name. For a $10 donation, you can name one for your sweetie and send a truly a certificate of honor.
  • Parents are NOT going to like this.  According to a new study out of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, parents aren't really THAT much more sleep deprived than the rest of us.  Every kid under age two only costs you 13 minutes of sleep a night . . . every kid age two to five costs you nine minutes . . . and every kid age six to 18 costs you four minutes.
  • According to a new study, there's no such thing as a BEER BELLY.  If you drink beer in moderation, it's no more likely to give you a big belly than drinking anything else.  In fact, if you drank two bottles of beer instead of two large glasses of wine every night, you could save 160 calories.  But before you get too excited, this study was sponsored by the BEER INDUSTRY.  So take it for what it's worth.
  • Air travel has never been safer.  As of today, your odds of dying in a plane crash are down to one in 45 million.  There were only 23 crashes worldwide last year, and only 475 deaths.  No commercial flight has had a fatal crash in the U.S. in four years, and none of the major carriers has had a major crash since 2001.  Meanwhile, your odds of dying in a car accident are one in 6,500.
  • In 2012, there were 80 shark attacks worldwide . . . 53 of which were in the U.S.  That means TWO-THIRDS of attacks were here.  Also, 53 is the highest number of shark attacks here since 2000.  Fortunately, those 53 attacks only resulted in one death.  There were six deaths in other countries. 
  • After ten days, police finally caught up with cop-killer Christopher Dorner yesterday.  A Fish and Wildlife officer spotted him in Big Bear, California, shots were fired, and Dorner escaped to a cabin.  Then he had another shootout with police, killed a deputy, and eventually the cabin caught fire.  Authorities found a charred body inside . . . but it has yet to be positively identified. 
  • Two girls at a high school near Salt Lake City, Utah didn't have dates to last Saturday's Sweetheart Ball.  So they decided to ask two special-needs guys who hadn't been asked to the semi-formal.  The two couples made a day of their double date, and went bowling and out to dinner before heading to the dance.
