Our last destination on this week's trip was Jim Falls. We stopped at Eagle Valley Speedway and took a look at the dirt track where lots of racing takes place come summer! We also saw a roadside marker and read about the Cobban Bridge before checking out the falls. They were beautiful. In town, we had our photo taken next to Old Abe the war eagle, and learned about her role in history. We found out that she was the mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the Civil War, and her image has been used in the CASE logo, as well as the 101st Airborne Division. Locally, the Eau Claire Memorial High School students are known as "the old Abes."
