Airstaff: Ray Moores

Birthday:
October 10

Growing Up: Born in Ft. Worth, Texas, and lived in Houston, Texas for 18 years.

Family: Single, I live in the Eau Claire area.

Radio Roots: I KNEW early on that I wanted to be on the radio. After high school I went to the “often imitated but never duplicated” Columbia School of Broadcasting in Houston. I started my radio career in 1981 at a tiny daytime-only AM country station between Houston and San Antonio. Along the way, I’ve worked in Shreveport, suburban Dallas-Ft. Worth and Houston. I love being part of the WAXX family! I really love hearing from and meeting listeners, we have the best listeners anywhere!

Favorite Radio Moment: My best radio memory is getting to interview George Strait on his tour bus in 1982 in Ft. Worth. He was, and is, the nicest guy around!

Worst Radio Moment: My worst radio moment (too many to really narrow down here!) was doing an airshift with a dislocated shoulder I suffered on my way to work after wrecking my bike.

Favorite Artists: Shania Twain, George Strait, Gretchen Wilson, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift.

Favorite Foods: I’m a steak and potatoes guy, medium-well, thank you! Having grown up on the Gulf Coast and my mom being from southern Louisiana, I love seafood, especially shrimp. And anything Mexican! Basically, if it doesn't bite me first...I also love iced tea, I drink it even in the dead of winter.

First Job: I had a paper route in Houston when I was 12, and kept it for 7 years!

Free Time: Golf, grilling and hanging out by the fire pit, sports, walking and bicycling, hitting garage sales, travel, and cheering on my Dallas Cowboys!
