Welcome to my corner of the radio! Outside of a semester studying in Scotland while in college and 9 years after being married, I’ve always been an Eau Claire-ite/Eau Claire-ian/Eau Claire-egian or whatever we’re called. I don’t think that’s officially been determined. I absolutely enjoy the four distinct seasons in this part of the country and couldn’t live anywhere else. My wife, three kids and I happily live just south of Eau Claire.
I’ve been in the radio business for 2+ decades with stops in Eau Claire, Milwaukee, the Quad Cities (Davenport, IA) and back to Eau Claire. I still love it. It allows me to listen to music, interact with people and do some surfing of the world wide web all while being paid. I’ve been asked numerous times if I know beforehand what I’m going to say on the radio. Yes and no. I have a basic plan but the way my mind works I may end up in a totally different place than where I planned. That’s what makes my job fun.
When I’m not in the studio I’m at the helm of my “other” job—a stay-at-home dad. This offers me the flexibility to shuttle kids around when needed but still have the opportunity to pursue radio. I also have the chance to have some kidless time when I’m in studio. It’s a win-win for everyone!
Being a stay-at-home dad also gives me the chance to do some home brewing. I’ve been brewing beer on an extremely small scale for years. It’s enjoyable and I get to drink the fruits of my labors. One of my goals is to head north to Alaska to attend the Great Alaska Beer Fest and/or tour breweries in the Northwest. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of great Wisconsin and regional beers. It’s just nice to try something different.
Hope to see you around the area soon. Cheers!
